I live in Chapel Hill, North Carolina with my wife and dogs; Pee Wee, Lyla and Scooter. I grew up on Long Island, NY and have lived in Manhattan, Chapel Hill and even lived a year one summer in Detroit, Michigan. I'm a photographer and illustrator; I do both for pleasure and commerce.  My commercial illustration work can be found via www.shaggydogpress.com.

Attended the University of North Carolina @ Chapel Hill as well as Pratt Institute in New York where I earned a BFA in Communications Design with a focus on illustration. I also studied photography with Bill Gedney at Pratt and in doing so was exposed to the great worlds of Lee Friedlander, Elliot Erwitt, Burk Uzzle to name only a few who inspired me to explore and enjoy the magic of the moment and the landscape of America. I was accepted to RIT for MFA graduate study in photography but decided to go to the big city and start a career instead.

I was the Managing Photo Editor for The Image Bank (now Getty Images) photographic agency in New York City from 1981-1987. I learned about photography and its application in the fine arts, editorial, and advertising arenas. Many of the world’s best advertising and editorial photographers were contributors and I had the pleasure of meeting and working with them over those years.

I worked in the capacity of Creative Director for Avanti Press from 1987 until November 2009. My expertise during this time was in producing photographic illustrations and editorial for the personal sentiments industry; greeting cards, calendars, gift books, etc.. I brought a wide field of skills and experience to the process of brand development encompassing editorial, product design and image making; from concept to post production.

I’ve accumulated over three decades of professional experience in the communication arts and had the opportunity to do all the things I love; think, see, photograph, draw, write, design and tell stories and I continue to do so. I also find great fun in photographing botanicals as well as dogs

Currently I’m creating images for publishers and companies both here in the US as well as on an international level. I’m also photographing everyday life and observations. For a nice selection of greeting cards, check out my friends at Leanin' Tree and Nobleworks.
